Overview

Velkommen means 'welcome' in Danish and Norwegian, a clue that this guesthouse is Western-run. It sits on Street 144, one of the short streets running inland from Sisowath Quay, which puts the riverfront and most of Phnom Penh's main sights within walking distance.

Rooms are air-conditioned and come with cable TV and a minibar, and many have a private balcony with a view over the city or towards the river. The restaurant cooks Khmer dishes and Western comfort food, which is useful if you arrive late or fancy an easy breakfast.

Practical help is a strength: reception is open 24 hours, there's a tour desk for booking trips and transport, internet is available throughout, and a laundry service takes care of the washing between stops.

Highlights

  • Street 144, just off the riverside
  • Royal Palace and National Museum within walking distance
  • Air-conditioned rooms with cable TV and minibar
  • Private balconies with city or river views
  • Khmer and Western restaurant
  • 24-hour reception, tour desk and laundry

Location

The guesthouse is at #18 Street 144 in Daun Penh, the old centre, a few steps from the riverside promenade along Sisowath Quay. The Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum are a short walk south along the river, and the domed Central Market is a little way inland.

In the evening the riverfront fills with families, food sellers and exercise groups, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets.
