Overview
Phangan Barsay suits backpackers who like to cook their own breakfast and still have company in the evening. The hostel is small, with around ten air-conditioned rooms, and it has a shared kitchen kitted out with a stove, a microwave and a fridge, which is not something every hostel on the island can offer.
Sleeping options are mixed dorms with four or six beds in bunks, a dorm with single beds, and for couples on a budget a double that shares a bathroom. Lockers and luggage storage are free, and there's a self-service laundry and a bar.

Location
The hostel is at 158/6-7 Moo 1, Thong Sala. Listings put the Saturday walking street about 600 metres away and Pantip food market around 800 metres, while the boats at Thong Sala pier and the Raja car-ferry terminal are somewhere between 1 and 1.4 km off.
That makes it a handy first or last night on the island: you can walk to the boats, and taxis and songthaews leave from town for Haad Rin and the west-coast beaches.
