See today's offersThailand is where most of our hotels are, from beach guesthouses on Koh Samui and Koh Tao to small city hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. We list each one under its destination, so you can compare places in the same area side by side.
The islands sit on two coasts with different weather. The Gulf of Thailand (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao) and the Andaman Sea (Phuket, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe) have their rainy seasons at different times of year, so it's worth checking which side suits your dates before picking a hotel.

See today's offersOn the Andaman side, the south-west monsoon usually brings the most rain from about May to October. The Gulf islands are generally driest from January to August and wettest from October to December. Northern Thailand is cool and dry from roughly November to February.
Domestic flights link Bangkok with Samui, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The islands are reached by ferry or speedboat from the nearest mainland pier, and overnight trains and buses connect Bangkok with the south and the north.
Entry rules, visa-exemption periods and health advice change. Check the latest guidance from the UK government (gov.uk foreign travel advice) or your own country's equivalent before you book.
It depends on when you travel. From about November to April the Andaman islands such as Phuket, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lipe are usually at their best. In July and August, the Gulf islands such as Koh Samui and Koh Tao often have the better weather.
Many visitors combine a few nights in Bangkok with one or two islands on the same coast, because travelling between the Gulf and the Andaman side takes most of a day.
