Hotels in Vietnam

Most of our Vietnam hotels are in Hoi An, the riverside trading town in the centre of the country whose lantern-lit Ancient Town is one of Vietnam's best-loved sights. Places to stay range from small hotels a few minutes' walk from the Japanese Covered Bridge to pool villas and family homestays out among the rice paddies, vegetable gardens and the beaches at An Bang and Cua Dai.

We also list a couple of places in central Ho Chi Minh City, still widely known as Saigon, close to Ben Thanh Market and the Opera House. Each destination has its own page, so you can compare hotels in the same area side by side.

Planning a trip to Vietnam

Three climates in one country

Vietnam is long and thin, and the weather varies from north to south. Around Hoi An and Da Nang, the driest, sunniest months are usually February to August, while heavy rain and the risk of storms and flooding peak from about September to December. Ho Chi Minh City in the south has a dry season from roughly December to April and a wet season, with short, heavy downpours, from about May to November.

Getting between destinations

Hoi An has no airport of its own; Da Nang International, roughly 30 km to the north, has domestic flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and a growing number of international routes. The north–south railway also stops at Da Nang, and ride-hailing apps such as Grab are widely used in both cities.

Money

The currency is the Vietnamese dong. Cards are accepted in many hotels and larger restaurants, but cash is still useful for markets, street food and small family-run places.

Questions about staying in Vietnam

How many days should I spend in Hoi An?

Three or four nights is a common choice: enough for the Ancient Town, a cycle through the countryside, a beach afternoon and perhaps a day trip to the My Son temple ruins or the Marble Mountains.

Should I stay in Hoi An or Da Nang?

Hoi An suits a slower trip built around the old town and the countryside; Da Nang is a bigger, more modern city with a long urban beach. They're roughly 45 minutes apart by road, so many visitors stay in one and visit the other.

Where should I stay in Ho Chi Minh City?

District 1, the historic centre, is the easiest base for a first visit, with the market, the Opera House, the cathedral and many restaurants within walking distance.

Do you take bookings?

No. We compare hotels and link to booking partners, where you check live prices and book directly with them.
